What's this? A blog update?

Hello everyone!
Since you're here, it looks like you haven't given up on this blog. Yes, we know it has been a while since the last post, but we appreciate your faith in us. :-)

Recently (well actually over a month ago), some of the ones in our church joined forces and took on a few church building maintenance projects that needed done. During the course of a few days, we stripped the downstairs floor, clean the heating fans, and removed some ugly "smoke eaters" from the sanctuary. It was a lot of work, but we sure had a lot of fun working together!

Now to the pictures...

It had to be done...

Matt and Ben use a clever cleaning technique. You blow air in one side of the heater, the dirt comes out the other side, and into the waiting trash bag. Yeah, we thought it was pretty smart too. ;-)

High altitude cleaning.

Decades of Dirt

The future is bright!
"Who are you looking at?"

The MAD Caulker

"Hey! I got an idea... Let's take down those ugly smoke eaters. We don't need them anymore since I don't think this room is going to be blue with cigarette smoke anytime soon."

Removing the cover.
Stuck inside the cover we found an ancient Super Bouncy Ball - archeology at it's finest!

Next is the filter...

Matt and Ben see who can hold their arms above their heads the longest...

After a while we got tired of the competition and decide that winning wasn't worth the pain.

Is Mark suggesting a more casual approach to "Sunday Best"?

Don't worry, we'll have it cleaned up in time for Sunday!

Floor Cleaning

Poised for action...

... after we get it set up of course!

(Check out that floor. Nasty, isn't it?)
First we apply the liquid stripper.

Next we compete to see who can remove years of dirt faster.

Isaac applies a little more persuasion.
Then we mop up the cleaner...

discard the water...

rinse the mop...

and repeat.
Mark pulls out the big guns, reserved only for very stubborn dirt. You need to move quick though, or else you will end up dissolving the tile. And that would be kind of like burning down the house to get rid of the mice. Simply put: Overkill.

Break Time
Isaac makes a desperate call home for food.

Some new recruits a arrive and Abigail is instantly promoted to Drill Instructor.

"What a job!"

A man of many talents.

What a crowd!

Q. How many supervisors do two people need?

Abigail :-)

The final rinse.
We've seen people dry dishes and cars before... but a floor?

Do I smell pizza?

Preparing for the next phase: applying the floor sealer.

OK, that's it for this week. We're now going to bed.
