Concerts and Games

Hi everyone!
We hope you all had a good week and a great Thanksgiving. Right now Josiah and I are in the middle of getting ready to go deer hunting on Monday so we don't have much time to do a long post. This year, Jon, Josiah, Isaac, and I are planning on hunting on our grandfather's farm in Franklin County. Unfortunately, we don't have any doe permits for that area so we can only shoot a six point buck or larger, which greatly reduces the probability of bagging a deer. But even if we don't get a deer, I know we'll have a good time trying! :-)

Now, on to the pictures...

Messiah Concert

The Sunday before last, Karen, Phillip, Timothy, and I (Josiah), went with the Pheros to a partial performance of Handel's Messiah. This was the first classical concert that I had ever been to and I found it quite interesting to view through the viewfinder. :-) That is to say I spent most of my time taking pictures. ;-) Of course it was also very enjoyable to listen to!

Isn't the drum roll on the Hallelujah chorus awesome?!

Hannah J. (front, center), intently plays the viola.

The Power of Music

"Hallelujah!"

Game Night

"Nothing personal, Brother Bob, but I'm determined to beat you!"

Brother Bob - Checkers Master

An unsuspecting victim dares to challenge him! It won't be long...
While the checkers game is going on in the basement, a Bible trivia game is in full swing upstairs. The room is filled with gaiety and laughter, BUT then Kristen pulls out a card and reads a really hard question.... All of a sudden, the room is dead silent.

The mental gears start to turn...

... and turn ...

Don, coffee cup firmly in hand, is unmoved by such questions. Why is he so confident?
"Time's up everyone!"

Tension is released as the answer is read.

Don and Josiah, oblivious to their surroundings, continue to work on finding the answer.

...

"Uh guys? We're done with that question and onto the next."
"I think we've had far to many pictures taken of us this evening... Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"It's payback time!"
"So you don't think that I'm the master of this game?"

"Wow! it's a baby!"

~~~
That's all for now. Until next time, have a great week everyone!
Belated Blog Post
Hi everyone,
Short post this time. Better late then never. Enjoy.
[writer's block occurs]
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Family Reunion
A few Sundays ago our family attended the Martin family reunion.
The one and only, Uncle Clarence.
Aaron spots some people who are not giving him their full and undivided attention.
"Hmm, let's stir things up a little bit..."
"I hear flipping upside down is a good way to get people's attention!"
"Now why would he do a thing like that?"
Music always enlivens things a bit.
Looks like someone is enjoying the music!
And the tour bus hits the road again.
...and games!
While Nathaniel searches the kitchen for something to drink...
... Aaron does his best to scowl at his favorite uncle.
A Bible trivia games gets under way...
"Who wrote the book of Revelation?"
There is no question in Gary's mind what the answer is. :-)
Some answers come easy... others elude even the most seasoned players.
You can almost see the gears turning in Gary's head.
Wrong answer.
So what were the two ways Amos earned a living before he became a prophet?
"After the pharaoh of Egypt captured the city of Gezer, what did he do with it?"
...
Uhh...
OK, let's think about this now:
"Which of the seven vials caused the beast's kingdom to be plunged into darkness??"
We hope you all enjoyed this post, short though it was.
Have a great Thanksgiving and God Bless!
Friday, November 9, 2007
Hello all,
I am here writing alone as my fellow corespondent, Benjamin, is currently in Missouri. Ben, Karen, and Abigail are attending the funeral of Michael Billings. On Sunday he was killed in a car accident, he leaves two older sisters and his parents as well as many nephews and nieces. (You can read more at Doug's Blog). Please pray for them!
Since Ben isn't here I will just post four "Art" photos.
I hope you all have a good weekend,
God Bless,
Josiah
