Let's get this show on the road!

We're in business now, people.

Sizzle...

"Is it done yet?"

"No, just a bit more is needed."
The DOBRO Man

Dueling Banjos! Grr.... :-)

After the "official" concert was over, Dale and Kristen got out their instruments and we played some music together. If you haven't heard us play and sing "Oh Susanna!" yet, you really haven't experience quality folk music. ;-)

"Mom, don't look now, but there is a guy pointing a camera at us..."
Of course, with the accordion being bright, shiny, and loud, it immediately caught Ben's eye. He simply had to try it out. So after a five minute crash course on accordion playing from Kristen, he is off!

Is it just my imagination, or are the spectators being careful to maintain a safe distance?

Oh yeah, now I'm grooving! Look at me go.

We so need a picture of this.

The music stops and a hush falls on the crowd... After a brief pause, someone in the crowd (who shall remain unnamed) says, "Ben, I think Kristen's music sounds better."

Yes, sometimes the simple truth is the only appropriate comment that can be made after such a musical performance. :-)
Mr. Aaron

Do the chips taste good, Jay?

"Hmm... Big Brother is looking the other way. I think now would be a good time to sneak a chip." ;-)

Watching Scott Eash's most recent short film.

Calm down! I know getting your picture taken is scary ordeal, but I promise, it'll be over in a fraction of a second. Trust me.
Good friends.

It's getting to be that time of night...

Late night conversation.

That's all for this week, folks. I hope you enjoyed your visit! May the Lord richly bless you this coming week as you seek to do His will and walk by His precepts.

Take care and God bless,
Benjamin E.

Fair Time!

Hello again,

In this post I hope to make up for the last post's shortness, although this isn't going to be the longest post ever. Is that a sigh of relief I hear? ;-) Today I'm updating the blog while Ben loyally works at the church building doing some painting. Hey, someone has got to keep our readers happy, so this is mostly going to be from me. Although rest assured he WILL proofread it ;-)

For the last 8 or so years our family has participated in the various local fairs, and since we moved to Lancaster County we regularly exhibit in the two closest ones.

On to the pictures!

The Denver Fair

Viewing our exhibits is a traditional family event.

Phillip reacts in his typical fashion...

Others are a little more cool about it.

Canned Cherries

They don't make 'em like they used to!
The lights of the fair.

The Denver Fair in all its glory.

What could be more traditional then the tents at a fair?

Keeping the fair up and running, literally!
"Is that all?"

After picking up our exhibits, we were treated to a rather spectacular fireworks show.

Ephrata Fair

I think this picture explains itself.

As one approaches the Midway he gets a good view of the crowd...

Before being engulfed in it!
Food anyone?

Maybe a ride?

How about a competition where the winner gets a useless toy?

Or maybe you could find a nice spot and go to sleep like this guy. ;-)

Ah, a VERY important step: getting your premium checks! :-)

Well I hope you all enjoyed this look into a family tradition.

I must add though that we are not "fair goers" per se, meaning that we pretty much only take items to exhibit and then go look at them to see how they did (although we do stop every once in while to pick up a deep fried Oreo or two).

That's all for now, have a great week everyone!
